Most U.S. presidents had facial hair of one variety or another. If you look down a gallery of all our presidents you will see a variety of hair attempts, from elegant Edwardian fancy moustaches, to full fledge facial forests. From 1861 to 1913 every Chief Executive had a beard but two (Lincoln and Andrew Johnson). The last to sport whiskers was President William H. Taft (1909-1913). No president since then has had a beard and only Tom Dewey, who ran for president twice and loss, had lip hair. And seeing Thomas Dewey’s moustache, well, is it really any wonder he lost twice? Take a look. Yikes!
